Super Easy Thai Beef

Added by dgwatson Source: Wanted to make something like Thai Gra Pao but didn't have basil or ground meat

Ingredients

  • 1 Cheap piece of steak like you'd use for fajitas
  • Fish Sauce
  • Soy Sauce
  • White Pepper
  • Palm Sugar
  • Minced Garlic
  • Peppers and Onions, sliced thin (optional)
  • Sesame oil (optional)
  • Sriracha or other hot stuff (optional)

Directions

This is sort of like thai carne asada. You could probably do this with strips of pork or chicken. Serve over rice, or maybe even tortillas with shredded cabbage if you're feeling fusion-y.

Slice the meat into thin strips. Marinate with fish sauce, soy sauce, white pepper, and palm sugar. (I'd say something like 2 parts fish sauce to 1 part soy sauce, and however much white pepper and palm sugar looks good to you.) Let it sit for a little while.

You'll probably want to cook this in batches so as to not crowd the pan, and get a nice sear on the meat.

For each batch, heat up your pan/wok as hot as you can, put some oil in, and put in some garlic. Once the garlic has cooked for 30 seconds or so, put some of the beef in, but not too much - you want to sear it, not steam it. Move it around constantly until it's to your desired doneness. Take it out, and repeat until you're done. Make sure each batch of beef has some garlic to go with it.

Once the beef is cooked, saute the veg in the same pan, and then toss together with some sesame oil and sriracha. Enjoy.

Note

Amazingly delicious, the kids demolished it
