Tomato Soup

Ingredients

  • 1/2 bushel tomatoes
  • 5 onions
  • 2 tablespoons celery seed
  • 1 medium bunch parsley
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 2-3 cups flour

Directions

Cook together first four ingredients until soft. Push through food mill. Then mix next 3 ingredients in bowl. Make it into a paste by adding a little ( 1 cup or 2 ) of tomato mixture. Put in pan and slowly add remaining tomato mixture, stirring. Bring to boil until thilck enough for your taste. My family thinks this is too sweet. I think it has too much sweetener, too much salt, too much celery seed, and too much flour. Therefore why incloude this recipe in my file? I basically like the taste, when I alter it to my tastes.
