Cherry Batter Pudding

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 can (2 cups) pitted red sour cherries
- 1 cup water
Directions
Mix butter and 1/2 cup sugar. Beat in eggs well, one at a time. Add mixed and sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Mix well and pour into greased 9-inch pan. Drain cherries; combine juice and water and bring to boil. Sprinkle cherries over batter; cover with 1 1/2 cups sugar; pour boiling liquid over top. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 degrees) for 45 minutes. Serve warm. Makes 6 servings.
