Chocolate Sundae Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Topping:
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • plain or whipped cream

Directions

Sift flour, measure and sift again with baking powder, salt, cocoa and sugar into a mixing bowl. Add the milk, nuts, butter and vanilla; blend well. Pour the mixture into a greased 9 inch square baking pan.
Spread the Topping (see below) evenly over the first mixture. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over all. Do not stir.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 50 minutes to 1 hour or until slightly crusty on top and firm. A pudding will form on top, with a fudge sauce layer below. Serve hot with plain or whipped cream. Serves 6.
Topping: Combine the 1/4 cup sugar, the brown sugar, the 3 tablespoons cocoa, the teaspoon of vanilla and salt.
