Apple Oat Crisp

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds sliced peeled apples
  • 2-3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup flour/gluten-free flour mixture of your choice
  • 4 tablespoons butter cut in small pieces
  • lemon juice to add if you pick non-tart apples

Directions

350 degree oven, middle rack, 8x8 baking dish.

Combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon salt to coat. Put in a greased baking dish.

Mix together the brown sugar, oats, flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt. Blend in butter with fingers.

Sprinkle over the apples and bake until streusel is crispy and the apples are tender - about 50 to 60 minutes.

Cool 30 minutes and serve with caramel sauce, ice cream, whipped cream or whatever you fancy.
