Famous Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup firm brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- OR
- 3/4 cup honey and molasses mixture
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 cups uncooked quaker oats
Directions
Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Sift: flour, salt and soda Add to creamed mixture. Blend Stir in the oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 12 - 15 minutes. Makes 5 dozen cookies.
